Graduation

I managed to graduate on time for my bachelor diploma. Honorable degree, 3.2 GPA. Considering I am running a business simultaneously, I think of this as a moderate success for myself.

I decided I'm not a school person since I'm out high-school. I feel that I learn better on my own pace, on the job, on-demand, rather than following a fixed curriculum.

"Then why are you still getting a degree then, why don't you skip university?" might be the question that you - my privileged friends living in a liberal environment, where it is socially acceptable for the youth to follow whatever path you want for your life after finishing mandatory education - will be asking. I am, however, a Vietnamese living in Vietnam, where people still expect having a diploma being a prerequisite of being a honest working person, and college-dropouts are still considered uneducated, I feel that having a degree is fulfilling an obligation towards my parents before I can freely pursue my own agenda.

And so I did. I paid my due in 4 years, and I have received my degree. And then I'll be able to live the adult life that I had always been looking forward to. And even if schools are just built to prepare cogs in an well oiled machine of society, I feel ready to start navigating my own life.

Here's to my education.
